By means of this centre, the company opens its doors and invites people to discover the history of San Miguel and to learn how we make our famous beer. This is a new and original way of informing consumers of the processes involved in producing this beer and the philosophy behind Mahou-San Miguel.
The main objective of the Centre d'Interpretació Industrial (Industrial Interpretation Centre) of the Mahou-San Miguel Group is to allow consumers the chance to discover how our beer is made. This is a pioneering venture in terms of the way in which the industrial premises are presented to visitors who have the opportunity to discover for themselves how one of civilisation's oldest products is made: beer making has a history that stretches back over a period of 6,000 years. This is a sign of transparency and of the desire of the Mahou-San Miguel Group to find a more original and dynamic way of increasing its clients awareness of the beer production process. In this way, they will be able to appreciate the food safety guarantees that accompany the beer produced by the Mahou-San Miguel group, including its quality controls and the rigorous norms that govern its food production process. The Centre d'Interpretació Industrial of the Lleida factory offers a very complete general vision of the beer making process and also of the history of the company. The Lleida factory, which began its activity in 1952, was the first plant at which San Miguel beer was produced in Spain.A group of shareholders from La Segarra signed the “Manila Agreement” with the President of the San Miguel Corporation of the Philippines giving rise to a new Spanish brewery called La Segarra S.A. (la Segarra - Spain), an independent offshoot from the Philippine parent company. “La Segarra” changed its name to “San Miguel, Fábricas de Cerveza y Malta, S.A.” (San Miguel, Beer and Malt Factory Ltd) and the first bottle of San Miguel Especial was produced by the Lleida factory (el Segrià - Spain).
For this reason, the Centre d'Interpretació focuses its attention on "the origin of San Miguel".
