Birding routes: Montsec route

What is Montsec?

Montsec (la Noguera) is an impressive mountain range reaching up to 1677m, stretching for some 40 kilometres from east to west and forming an important part of the Catalan pre-Pyrenees. Seen from its southern approaches it towers above the land as an enormous wall of rock, and historically was in fact the natural border between the Christians and the Moors for many years.

Why visit Montsec?
